Ethan and Ella

Ethan loves his little sister. In the last few weeks he ask to hold her more and to kiss her. He is so helpful to me. I adore them and can not wait to see what God has in store for both of their lives. We have our crazy days but are settling into a new routine with Ella here. We are so excited for Christmas. I think Ethan is going to have a blast on Christmas morning.

Despite Ethan loving his sister he sometimes "forgets" she is RIGHT there. Here is a little look into our life.....

video

Ella

Ella is growing so FAST. It seems even faster then with Ethan. We had a sick visit to the doctor this week and she was 10 lbs 15 oz!!! At her two month check up she was 10 lb 5 oz (20th%) and 24 1/2 in long (90th%). She loves to watch her brother play and has most recently discovered her hands and ears. It is so sweet to watch her observe and take everything in. You gotta love those chubby cheeks.

The Faces of Ethan

Ethan cracks me up with his scrunched up nose. As of lately he loves to take care of his animals. He feeds them, burps them, plays with them, puts them to sleep and loves them. Its very sweet and cute to watch him take care of all of his animals.

Ethan on his meds

Ethan has a case of croup which has landed him on prednizone. This medicine makes him a little loopy and a bit crazy. He was being too funny running around and falling down. Only two more days and we can get off the medicine. What a cute little boy!!!

Chex Mix

Last Saturday we all headed to Moms for our annual chex mix making day. We baked for about 9 hours and ended up with 37 gallons of chex mix!! It was nice spending the day with my sisters and Mom. Can not wait to enjoy it all!!!

Thanksgiving 2009

We spent Thanksgiving with Corey's family and had a great time talking and playing with all the cousins. Mom Barnes made a fabulous feast that we enjoyed for lunch and dinner. It was a nice relaxing afternoon.

Random Pictures

Here are a few pictures of our life over the last three weeks. We had managed to stay healthy until last weekend when Ethan started his coughing and I developed a sore throat. We both visited the doctor today and hopefully will be back in the swing of life by the end of the week. Our Christmas celebrations begin this weekend with Corey's extended family on Saturday and I hope we are well by then. Ethan is now saying Ella's name and is very sweet towards her. She is smiling lots and baby talking.

First Smile and More

Ella is 7 weeks old today! It has totally flown by and would like her to not grow anymore, this is such a fun stage. She is smiling and being more alert. She loves her bouncy and watching her big brother play. She is sleeping pretty consistently seven hours straight every night and still eating like champ. She is such a sweet little girl!

Ethans sweet tooth

Last weekend we gave Ethan a few Oreo cookies, seriously for the first time. He thought they were the best thing ever. His reaction was hilarious. He was rubbing them on his face, smelling them and of course eating them!!! What a cutie:)

Ethan Fun

Last Friday night Ethan had a blast running around playing ball, reading books and riding on Dads back. He loves having one on one time while Ella naps. I was able to get some great pics of Ethan and our fun!

New pics

Here are some new pictures of Ella. She is growing and getting so big. She seems to be growing faster than I remember Ethan growing. She loves bath time and it is a joy to give her one. Ethan loves his little sister most of the time and has started to ask to hold her. It is too sweet to watch. We are adjusting and trying to get on a schedule! Fun Days!

Ethan's First Haircut

Last Saturday Ethan had his first haircut!! His hair actually was not too long except over his ears and on his neck so Corey thought it was time for his first haircut. I was a little hesitant because it makes him seem so old but he is a little cutie with his haircut. The bottom left is of Ethan after the haircut! What a good memory!

Bad Mother

Here are a few photos of Ella taken over the last two weeks and there are only THREE!! I think I took over 300 pictures of Ethan the first month. I got out the camera today and hope to build her folder of pictures:) It is hard to believe she is almost one month on Wednesday. She is such a sweet little girl who is eating and sleeping wonderfully. Hopefully more pictures to come soon:)

Family Time

Last Saturday we headed over to one of my Aunt's to visit my grandmothers family from Massachusetts and Alabama. The kids had a great time running around and playing with each other. Ethan was very observant of Tyler and Colson. He also followed Annabelle around where ever she would go. It was a nice evening visiting and being able to see the extended family.
Some of the other pictures scattered in are: Ethan pushing little nine month old Adam in his car, Annabelle holding Ella for the first time and Ethan watching his Daddy sleep with Ella on his chest. Ethan thought it was funny that his Dad and Ella were sleeping on the couch, it was very sweet.

My two little blessings

It has been so awesome to have Ella join our family. She fits in perfectly into our family and love having her here with us. Ethan has been so cute giving her kisses, giving her the binky and helping me burp her. I hope they grow to love each other more and have a close friendship. They are so special to me and can not imagine life without either of them. They continually make me smile, laugh and cry. I love you Ethan and Ella!!!

Welcome Ella Christine

Ella Christine joined our family on Monday September 21st at 6:10pm. She weighed in at
6lbs 12 1/2oz and 20 1/2 in long. We are at home and adjusting to our family of four. We have enjoyed great meals, good fellowship and getting to know Ella. Isn't she the cutest???:) She looks a lot like her older brother, just with a bit more hair.

Daniel turns Two

My nephew Daniel turned two!!! Its hard to believe that two years have gone by since he was born. He is such a smart and adorable little boy. He is into Thomas the train, Elmo, and Winnie the Pooh. He got lots of great new toys and I am sure he will have hours of fun. Carrie has been watching Ethan while I go to the doctors every week and it has been great for Ethan to play with Danny during that time. It is such a blessing to have her watch him and for Ethan and Danny to become buds. We had a great time celebrating. Happy Birthday Daniel!!!

Saturday Football

My nephew is playing his first year of rocket football. We went to our first game on Saturday morning. It was a beautiful morning for football and loved watching him. Its amazing the intensity of some of the parents, coaches and players. Tyler is enjoying playing and that is the most important thing. He had a nice turnout with 15 fans showing up to cheer them on. I thankful that we made it to a game before baby girl arrives. Way to go Tyler!!!

38 weeks and a finished nursery

No baby news yet...we are still waiting on the perfect time for her to make her arrival. In the meantime we have been busy preparing. Our bags are packed, the nursery ready, the pack and play is up in our room and we are ready for baby girl. Mary had a good reminder for me today that pregnancy is intended on being 40 weeks long and I might just make it that far. Which in reality I totally understand and want her to be healthy however, my doctors have been telling me I would be early for the last 6 weeks and that has made me anxious. It just shows you that Gods does know all and that he has the perfect time and date for our little girls arrival.
My sister and mother helped make her nursery beautiful by making her curtains. They turned out awesome. My mom added some extra detail with the green piping, which ties the room together perfectly. They spent a Saturday and some other evenings making these curtains and I am so thankful for their willingness. Thanks Carrie and Mom, they are beautiful!!! We can not wait to meet her and share the good news!!!

What a sweet face

Ethan is growing into such a little man. It is unbelievable how much he continues to grow and learn each day. We are trying our best to tell him about his new baby sister that will soon be arriving. However, I think we will have a time of transition and there will be no away around that. He is such a great little helper. He helps clean by dusting, mopping and washing windows, puts his toys away when finished and keeps his high chair during feedings nicely organized. I have no doubt that he will be a great big brother and take on a helping role. He is too funny how particular he is, always needing his hands clean or knowing where his cup is at all times. He loves bath time and I was able to get these few pics in before he desperatly wanted the camera himself and look at that hair...finally:)

Adam

One day last week I watched my sisters little boy Adam. He has the bluest eyes and the cutest little cheeks. Despite only sleeping for 25 minutes he was a great little boy all afternoon. This was also a great opportunity to get my "feet wet" with two little ones. There were a few tense moments but we all survived and had a good afternoon playing.

Birthdays and More

Last weekend we celebrated Tylers 11th birthday. Its hard to believe he is that old! He got lots of Lego's, clothes and a few gift cards. He is really into Lego's and has already built two of the items he got. One had over 750 pieces!!! It was a great evening, Happy Birthday Tyler!!
The top two right pictures are of my birthday presents. Corey, his Mom and Dad and brother all went in and got me a new glider for baby girls room. It was delivered directly to our house so they did not get to see it. We got home from having breakfast, which was very delicious (thanks Mom), and it was on the front porch. I can not wait to start using it, thank you guys!!! The clock is from my sister and I am so very excited to have it:)! Corey and I have been wanting a clock for our living room since we were married and now we finally have one, Thanks Amy!!! I had a great birthday and am thankful for my family to share it with. Love you all!!!!

Our Life...

has been so busy with regular life stuff the last few weeks but to be honest I love it this way! I thrive on the craziness and making everything come together. I have been terrible at taking pictures of our life events and hope that this is not going to continue when baby girl arrives. I have had great intentions by carrying my camera with me but seem to "forget" its with me. However this one picture I do have is from our park visit about two weeks ago. Ethan has a blast playing and swinging and cries when we load him into the car seat. Hopefully next year Corey can build a swing set and we will have a park in the back yard! It has been very cool this summer which makes playing outside enjoyable. In other news: I had a doctors appointment this past Thursday and the doctor seems to think I will be delivering baby girl in two weeks but we shall see. I am on weekly appointments and go back this Thursday. Last weekend Corey and I finished baby girls room which makes it official that we are about to have two little ones. We are excited and can not wait to meet her. Hopefully we can settle on a name before then???? Corey has also been going to physical therapy weekly and will hopefully be done in a few more sessions. Corey is getting around normal and has little pain and/or swelling which is a plus. Today I enjoyed a morning with some girlfriends. I hope they know how blessed I feel and how grateful I am for each of their friendships. We enjoyed a morning of pampering: pedicure, eating good food, laughing and some cute baby girl gifts. Thanks Girls! Addi should be posting some pics of our awesome Saturday morning:)! No pressure Addi:)

18 month pictures

I am a few weeks late in getting Ethan's pictures taken but better late than never:)! Corey and I have always gone together to get the pictures taken but life has gotten way to busy and I decided to go on my own. I knew I only needed one good shot and that if I timed it right Ethan would be fine. I think I worked harder than the photographer trying to get him to sit still but the pictures turned out better than expected. To see his 18 month pics go to :

Enjoy!!!

Summer is finally here...

Last weekend we finally enjoyed some ninety degree weather! We headed over to Mom's to enjoy the pool. Ethan enjoyed being pushed around in his boat. This week has been just as nice and we are hoping to get over to the pool again by the end of the week.

Our Playful little Boy

Ethan cracks me up and keeps me going. He loves when I play his children's bible song CD and I thought I might try to capture his smiles. As I said before he thinks he needs to be taking the pictures so the smiles did not come out to well in the pictures I snapped. Ethan also loves to search for our cats. Usually you can find one under the table, it is so cute how he loves the cats. In the video you can see him doing circles and running like a little crazy boy. You just got love him:)

Updates

The weeks are flying by and so is our summer. Its hard to believe that August is here and kids will be going back to school in TWO weeks!! We have had a busy last two weeks but it truly is good to be busy. Last week I hosted a Mom's brunch and we ended up with six moms and nine kids. Ethan was being clingy and did not play very well so I did not get any pictures:( I think it was that it was at his house with his toys that set him off or at least I can hope:) It was great to have everyone over. I also had an ultrasound last Friday to check on baby girls growth and her kidneys. I am measuring about a week ahead of my official due date which was good news. Her left kidney was also still dilated about double the "normal" size. Since they are still dilated she will have an ultrasound done on her within the first 24 hours of being delivered. There is a very good chance it will self correct at delivery. Other than that everything else seems to being going perfect with the pregnancy and we head back to the doctor next Friday.

We also had two cookouts last weekend which I managed to not bring a camera to either:) Our neighbors son turned 16 and they had a BBQ for his party. Despite some rain we enjoyed playing corn hole, plumbers golf and getting to know our neighbors a little better. Sunday we headed over for grace reunion at Addi and BK's house. Again Ethan had a long week with not good napping or getting to bed on time which lead to meltdown city:) We enjoyed the time we were there and are thankful for the great friends God has given us.

Birthday Parties!!!

This past weekend Corey, Ethan and I were able to meet up with both of our families for some birthday parties. Saturday evening we headed to a park in Berrien Springs to meet up with Corey's family for Craig's birthday. The weather was perfect and the playground was awesome. The kids had a blast playing all evening.
Sunday evening we headed to my sisters for Annabelle's birthday party. I was not as picture happy I guess on Sunday as I did not leave with as many pictures. Annabelle got some awesome presents and enjoyed playing with her cousins.
We are so thankful for family and being able to celebrate their birthdays together. Happy Birthday Annabelle and Craig!!!

Baby Girl

Our baby girls room is finally under construction:)!! We picked up our crib and dresser this weekend and got the painting done. We still have the dresser to put together and some other odds and ends to finish the room. It is so exciting to get this process started as I was starting to feel like we were running out of time. We still have lots to do but at least she will have somewhere to sleep if need be. We have another ultrasound on July 31st to check on the status of her kidneys and to see how big she is. I am measuring further along and at the last checkup my blood pressure was a little elevated so hopefully the ultrasound will help the doctors know what is needed for the both of us. I can not believe that she will be here in 75 days but most likely less!!!!

18 months

Ethan is now 18 months and is Mr. Independent. We had his checkup today and he weighed in at 23lbs 9oz (20th percentile) and 34 1/2 in tall (90th percentile). He is growing on the same track since birth and seems to be doing great. We are finally in the habit of brushing our teeth. Corey and I have been doing the brushing for the last however long with only tears from Ethan. Ethan now loves to brush and floss I might add. He is a stinker to get pictures of since he thinks he should be the one snapping the pics. Ethan stays busy running all over the house, riding in his car, pushing his mower, blowing bubbles (or eating them), reading books and building blocks. We are enjoying our time daily because I know in a few months it will be a little harder to have this one on one time:)!

27 weeks and counting...

It is hard to believe that I am starting my 3rd trimester!!! My how time flies. I am not ready for this baby girl to come at all, good thing I have three more months. I am working on picking out some fabric for the curtains and bumper, who knew the fabric store could be so overwhelming. I go back to the doctor on Wednesday so hopefully everything is still great. I feel pretty good and love feeling her kick-its so amazing!!

4th of July weekend

I started off the weekend on Friday celebrating my Mom's birthday. Corey and Ethan stayed home because Ethan had a belly ache and fever . It was weird going to a family thing without them but I think they had fun playing at home. We had a great evening of grilling, pool and presents.

Saturday, Corey and I stayed home and had our own little cookout. It was nice just being the three of us and relaxing. We watched our neighbors fireworks from the deck and were amazed that Ethan did not even make a peep!

Today we enjoyed a beautiful day outside playing in the sprinklers and the yard. I am so thankful for my family and the great holiday weekend we could spend together.

John's Day

Last Saturday Corey, Ethan and I spent the afternoon and evening with our nephew John. His 9th birthday was a few weeks ago and we were unable to celebrate with him so we celebrated this last weekend. John loves board games so we borrowed a few and had an evening of games, pizza and dairy queen. It was a nice evening and we think John enjoyed himself. Happy Belated Birthday John!

Pool Party Fun...Maybe

Well at least for some kids as Ethan would not go in the kiddie pool even though the three days prior we spent in my Moms pool. We still had a great morning hanging out and enjoying Luke's outdoor toys. Thanks S for cooking lunch and having us over!

Future Piano Player???

We enjoyed a busy beautiful fathers day on Sunday. Happy Belated Fathers Day to all you Dad's out there! We went to church and then headed to Corey's parents house. Mom Barnes fixed a fabulous Sunday dinner and we enjoyed spending some time watching all the kids play very well with each other. The only pictures I have of the afternoon are these of Ethan loving the piano. He was very gently actually playing with his fingers and not banging on the keys. He absolutely loved it!

Little Man

Ethan has had these sunglasses for a few months but just this last weekend kept them on. I think he saw his Dad with his and had to be just like him:) At first he was not too sure but realized what a great new "toy" he had and loved taking them on and off! He was too cute not to share these pics!

Strawberry Pickin'

Last Friday my two older sisters and I headed to the strawberry patch. It was a beautiful morning and the kids were ready to help. Tyler, Colson and Anna picked almost a whole basket on their own! Tyler helped keep Ethan and Daniel inside our row towards the end. The little ones were great and helped pick and eat a few also. Our fresh strawberries are very juicy and delicious!

Long or Short?

Isn't it so amazing how some weeks seem to fly by and others seem to last forever. Well this last week has been both? Some days seem to take forever to get accomplished and other days seem to end to quickly. To sum up last Thursday morning Corey had his knee surgery. It went well and they were able to repair/remove everything that needed to be. They ended up removing his meniscus due to the severity of the tear. He was pretty out of it Thursday and Friday morning. He had a block done prior to surgery which did not wear off until Friday which he was thankful for. He was pretty much on the couch the entire weekend and headed off to work on Monday morning. Corey is such a great Dad and so helpful with Ethan giving baths and putting to bed most nights until now. It has been challenging to me to go from morning to night with no help. I am so thankful that I have Corey and that Ethan has two parents. It is short lived for me but I know for some it is not which makes me even more grateful. So to say the least I will be glad when he can move around better. He is working his knee with a range of motion machine and also has a brace attached to a cooler to help with pain/swelling. If you remember to please pray for a quick and healthy recovery for him. I was kicking myself on the day of surgery because I had forgotten my camera, I think Corey was happy I did too.
This past week we also had a doctors appointment that went well. The babies heart beat was 145 and measuring right on for 24 weeks. Its hard to believe that its the middle of June! I have the babies room cleaned out, now just need to decorate!
Not much else new in the Barnes household-hope everyone's summer is off to a great start!!!

Saturday Soccer

Saturday morning Ethan and I headed over to my nephews soccer game. They only have two games left of the season so I am so glad that I made it to this one. It was a beautiful morning and he scored a goal!! Ethan loved watching and playing with cousin Colson. What a fun morning!

Our little worker

Ethan had a blast helping Corey water the flowers this weekend. He loved moving the hose all around to see the water move with it. He loved touching the water and I was surprised he did not try drinking from the hose. He loves the bath water:) The fun ended after he got his Dad all wet! He was too cute!

May 28th 2009- Five Years

Happy Anniversary to Corey and I! Yesterday was actually our anniversary but it was a crazy day and did not get anything posted. Even though it was a very busy day, Corey and I both took time to remember our wedding day and all the awesome memories since then. Its amazing to look back and see how God has orchestrated many events that have changed our path to bring us to where we are today. I love Corey more today than on the day I married him. To see him as the father of my child, as our provider and our leader is so amazing. We have grown so much as a couple; it is sometimes hard to comprehend. I love that we have this day to always have as our day. A day to remember one of the best days in our life, to make new goals for our future and to look back on all of our memories. I pray for many more anniversaries to come! I love you Corey!!!!

When I found him whom my soul loves.
I held him and would not let him go...

Memorial Day

We had a great Memorial Day and we hope everyone else did as well. We headed down to Mishawaka for the parade on Monday morning. It was cloudy and a bit chilly but I would rather it be that than too hot:) They had a fly over of planes before the parade began and Ethan was amazed by them. The police cars and fire trucks were near the beginning of the parade and Ethan was not too hip on the very loud sirens but he was a trooper and just looked on in a bit of fear I think. It was a great parade and hope to take Ethan to a few more this summer.

After the parade and nap time we headed over to Mom's to enjoy a laid back afternoon. We grilled and had a great lunch/dinner. We watched the kids play outside all afternoon. Ethan and Daniel had a great time in the car. Ethan was not the best at taking turns as you can see Ethan is in the car in most pictures. Danny was very nice to push him around the yard. They were too cute. It was a great day and a nice long weekend.

Congratulations Nathan!!!

This morning we headed over to Valpo to see Nathan graduate from Law school. What an awesome achievement for him. It has been three years of studying, reading and more reading and studying. He will be taking the bar in July and we are praying for a job in the area for him. After graduation the "gang" headed to Applebees for lunch. It was a great morning and afternoon celebrating Nathan's great accomplishment. Congratulations Nathan!!

Friday Night Fun

Friday night after dinner, Corey, Ethan and I headed to the park with Dairy Queen in hand. It was a beautiful evening and a great night to swing and slide. When we first got there we were the only ones there which was nice. Ethan loved walking all over and sliding. We also enjoyed Corey attempting the bars (which is probably not the best idea with his knee) but it was funny to watch. It was a great evening with our family.

As Good as it Gets

Here are some random photos of our life over the last week. Like my title this is as good as it gets. Life just seems to have a way to pass by very quickly and it gets harder to post (the weather being awesome does not help much either:) We have some mother's day pictures splashed in with some Ethan pics. I love the one of my two brother in laws attempting to clean the dishes on mothers day and the one of Anna, Danny and Ethan playing the piano. We had a great brunch at Amy's and a relaxing afternoon.
Ethan loves to watch out the window at the sprinklers- he is amazed by the water. Please do not mind my garage sale pile next to him. I can not wait to have the sale next weekend and hopefully sell all this stuff!! Its amazing how much stuff I have to sell. The other pictures of Ethan playing Lego's and having a Popsicle. He loves the Popsicles. Now only if I could get him to eat the grape ones and I will stick with orange and red. Popsicles have been one of my things during this pregnancy. My Mom used to make the best homemade Popsicles and I am sure I will attempt at making some this summer:)
I tried to scan my ultra sound pictures but the images kept turning out very black- Corey even tried at work. So here are my pictures of the ultrasound pictures:) The one of the thumbs up is too cute. The one on the left is her face and the bottom right is the spine. Its amazing how much this little girl is moving!! We can not wait to meet her!!!
