60 years and counting

Friday afternoon we enjoyed an open house for my Grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. They are an awesome couple and I feel so lucky to have grown up so close to my grandparents. They have always been around for birthdays, other holidays and anytime you need a good meal:) My grandpa always gives his two cents about whatever the latest in your life is and Grandma is always there to understand whatever it is you are going through. They compliment each other very well. I give my Grandma credit for my clean freakism and my grandpa credit for my work ethic. They are very special to me and am so blessed to be able to spend the afternoon celebrating their marriage.

Christmas 2008

The Barnes family has enjoyed the last few days celebrating with family. Christmas Eve we spent at my Mom's house. We had an awesome dinner and opened great gifts. We exchange names and it is always fun to see who has who. We had a great time getting a photo of the girls and mom. I don't think you can ever have enough family pictures.

Christmas morning we enjoyed our first Christmas morning with Ethan. He loved to sit and stand on the presents. He was not much for unwrapping them but he sure did love to play with the toys after they were opened. He pushes everything around and it was hilarious to see him with his new blocks. It was a great morning.
We headed to Corey's side of the family Christmas Day afternoon. We enjoyed a great meal with his family and present time. The kids played great together and it was a nice afternoon. Corey's Dad always reads the Christmas story from Luke, which I find as an awesome tradition. What great memories!!

Eleven Months

Ethan loves to have his Dad push him around on his hippo. The hippo is supposed to be for Ethan and learning to walk but he prefers to go along for the ride. Its too funny, Corey pushes him all around the house and Ethan just enjoys the scenery. Christmas is here and the fact that Ethan's first birthday is four weeks away is scary!!!!

He is a "speed" crawler now and is pulling up on everything. He will take a few steps on the furniture but would prefer to crawl. He loves his blocks and loves to read. We probably read ten books a day, he just sits on my lap and listens. It is pretty awesome.

Corey and I are both looking forward to Christmas. We know he will probably like the boxes and paper better than the presents but will still be a fun time.

I hope everyone is doing well. We are praying for a safe and happy Christmas for everyone!!

Happy Birthday Corey!!!

Today is Corey's 31st birthday. He does not like to make a big deal out of birthdays but Ethan and are going to try to make it a big deal:) I don't think that its turning older, I just really think he could care less that he is older:)! So to make it a big deal we are making Lasagna and a birthday cake. Corey's favorites. I seriously have never made a cake on my own before but I think it will turn out tasty. I called the cake expert (Mom) and she gave me a few tips so that should help:)

While I was baking I filled up one side of the sink with soapy water and put Ethan on the other side so he could play in the water. He was soaking wet when he was all done but had a good time with it. I also let him lick the spatula when we were done mixing- he loved it!!!

Corey we are so thankful for you. You are a wonderful provider for our family in all different ways; financially, emotionally, and spiritually. You are a great husband and Dad and hope you have a great birthday!!!

Busy Busy Busy

It seems that life has gone into overdrive over the last two weeks. Last weekend I decided to start my Christmas shopping and have been panicked about it ever since. I was able to go out twice again this week and think one more trip and I will be DONE:)! I love shopping but something about having only two weeks to find that perfect gift freaks me out. It kind of snuck up on me this year but needless to say it all worked out and I am almost done.

Last weekend we headed up to celebrate Christmas with Corey's Moms side of the family. They rented a hall and it worked out perfect. The kids were able to run around and play while the adults had time to visit. It was snowing like crazy outside but we had a great turnout. Its amazing how family ends up all over and holidays bring you all back together.

Ethan has been busy getting into everything, pulling himself up, getting a few molars and being a huge blessing to my life. I am learning so much about him and me everyday. Its pretty awesome to see your children bring out your passion and love for things in a different way than before you had children.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving. I hope everyone else did as well. I was a terrible picture taker this weekend but here is the few photos I snapped.
On Thanksgiving we headed up to Corey's parents house for dinner. It was a wonderful day. We had an awesome feast and great fellowship.
Friday Corey and I spent most of the day cleaning, throwing out, re-arranging furniture and putting out Christmas decorations. I love having the Christmas tree up, it just puts me in the Christmas spirit. We did not go shopping on Black Friday this year. We were all still trying to fight these colds and just needed a day at home.
Saturday I headed to Mom's for annual chex mix day. I think we ended up with 33 gallons!! It was a great day of laughter and memory sharing.
It was truley a great weekend of family, fun, and great memories!!!
